Music charity partnership launched to reach new audiences during National Transplant Week

Love Hope Strength Foundation are proud to announce in Transplant Week, our new partnership with NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) aming to increase numbers on the NHS Organ Donor Register (ODR) and save lives.

The three year agreement, launched uring National Transplant Week (9-15 July) is being spear-headed by two-times ancer survivor Mike Peters, who is co-founder of LHSF and current front man of legendary British rock bands The Alarm and Big Country.

 The collaboration is the first time that NHSBT has formed a partnership with a music charity of this type, and it will be used to promote the importance of organ donation and increase the numbers registering on the ODR through LHSF’s music related outreach and awareness
programmes.

Mike Peters said:  “What greater gift can someone ive to another than the chance of life itself. By being an organ donor you can dd even more meaning to a life well lived. Through this partnership with NHSBT e hope to raise awareness amongst music fans of the need for more donors, so that ore lives can be saved through transplantation.”

NHSBT has provided special training on organ donation to LHSF volunteers, as well as publicity materials which the foundation will use at several music events this year including Avebury and Snowdon Rocks.

Sally Johnson, Director of Organ Donation and Transplantation at NHSBT said:  ”We are delighted to be launching this innovative collaboration with Love Hope Strength Foundation. Through the medium of music at events up and down the country we will be raising awareness and encouraging new audiences to save ives by signing the NHS Organ Donor Register.”

Love Hope Strength Foundation is irmly established as the world’s leading rock and roll cancer charity, promoting nnovative, music related, outreach and awareness programmes for leukaemia and ancer sufferers, survivors and their families. Their mission is to save lives, by providing medical equipment and supplies, raising awareness through special events, building cancer centres and recruiting potential donors to the organ
and bone marrow registers.

LHSF will host organ donation recruitment stands at the following events in 2012.
