Offa’s Dyke Virtual Hike

Be part of the Offa’s Dyke Rocks Virtual Hike!

Offa’s Dyke Rocks, a 12 day hike, 177 mile trek along the Welsh-English border, was scheduled to take place from May 23rd to Thursday 3rd June this year. Love Hope Strength co-founders, Mike and Jules Peters, had planned to walk with 40 Love Hope Strength supporters as part of the celebrations marking The Alarm’s 40th birthday.

Many options have been considered, including postponing the trek, because of the ongoing Covid-19 restrictions that are in place. Unfortunately, Offa’s Dyke is not going to be able to take place as planned, but every cloud has a silver lining – now you can take part in this special event from your own neighbourhood! The ‘show will go on’, albeit in a very different format. Mike and Jules are going to have to go it alone, with support from across the globe from anyone and everyone that wants to join in this challenge!

Offa’s Dyke – a virtual hike!
Mike and Jules Peters will take on the Offa’s Dyke Challenge on the planned dates with a two person support team only. Here’s how you can take part:

  1. Agree to do 10,000 on 4 of the 12 days over Offa’s Dyke Rocks
  2. Register to do 10,000 steps every day (approximately 5 miles / 8 km) of the Offa’s Dyke Rocks Hike
  3. Sign up to do the distance – 177 miles – in your own time, at your own pace, at a location of your choice
  4. Organise your own hike to coincide with the Offa’s Dyke Rocks

It’s free to register to be part of this virtual hike!

Let’s hike 1.5million steps together – a step for every person diagnosed with cancer worldwide every month!
There are over 17 million new cases of cancer worldwide (2018), which means almost 1.5 million people every month are diagnosed with cancer every month.

The aim of Offa’s Dyke Rocks was to complete a collective challenge to raise money for Love Hope Strength’s lifesaving and life-changing can care grants and support schemes. Despite not being together, as a collective we can still do something very powerful. Together we can walk 1.5 million steps (750 miles) – a step for every person diagnosed with cancer across the globe during the month of May – to become a step closer to helping create a better world for people affected by cancer.

Mike and Jules will walk approximately 354,000 steps each over their 12 day hike; together they will walk an estimated 708,000 steps, 354 miles. Can you register to be part of the virtual challenge to hit a collective target of 1.5million steps?

Offa’s Dyke will still raise money!
One of the principle aims of Offa’s Dyke Rocks was to raise money so Love Hope Strength could continue to make a real difference to families affected by cancer, especially those in underprivileged communities. Everyone that registers to be part of the virtual Offa’s Dyke Rocks challenge will be invited to raise money through the Offa’s Dyke event page, though it it not necessary for all participants to raise money. Mike and Jules Peters will also be getting sponsored to take part. The aim is to raise $12,000 ($1,000 / £750 a day) through the challenge.
