Love Hope Strength (LHS) was established here in the UK and the USA in 2006 by the internationally acclaimed musician Mike Peters of rock band The Alarm and his wife Jules after Mike was diagnosed with leukaemia. The Peters family were determined to help save lives and give hope to other families affected by cancer.

Over the past decade, LHS has organised events and activities to help families affected by cancer to celebrate, remember and take on a challenge so families can show thanks and appreciation for the care and love they’ve received, help rebuild their lives and keep someone in their memory. Thousands of people have taken part in hikes across the UK, in the USA, South America, Africa and Asia in the name of Love Hope Strength, and over £1 million has been raised through these treks and associated activities. The funds raised have gone on to support cancer care programmes in hospitals and in community settings across the globe.

As well as supporting cancer care projects through its fundraising events and activities, LHS has gone on to establish the ‘Get On The List’ programme to help people with a blood cancer or blood disorder who need a second chance of life. To date LHS, led by volunteers and supported by partnerships with leading international organisations including the international blood cancer charity DKMS, has registered almost 250,000 people to international stem cell donor registries. Incredibly, approximately 4,500 of those who’ve registered have been identified as potentially life saving matches.

Mike’s band, The Alarm, celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2021. To mark this important milestone in the Love Hope Strength co-founders’ life, a Love Hope Strength Sanctuary will be created in what is currently a secret location in North Wales. 40 trees will be planted, along with a meadow of wild flowers, which will include poppies. This sanctuary will stand forever, protected and nurtured, as a place for those in the Alarm-Love Hope Strength community to go to relax, remember, reflect and take in the natural beauty of the place which inspired hundreds of songs and which sowed the seed for what has become Love Hope Strength.

You are invited to sponsor a tree and to sponsor the meadow within this special sanctuary. Your support will help make this very special place a reality, and it will help fund Love Hope Strength’s grants for cancer care programmes here in the UK.

All tree and meadow sponsors will receive:

  • An invitation to the opening of the Love Hope Strength Sanctuary in Spring 2021
  • A commemorative piece of art, which will include a message of your choice. Choose to dedicate your tree or piece of meadow in memory of someone or to say thank you to someone
  • An open invitation to visit the sanctuary whenever you wish
Sponsorship of the Love Hope Strength Sanctuary’s trees and meadow will be open from May 2020. In the meantime, you can register your interest in becoming a sponsor and find out more here:
