Rhondda Rocks 2009

June 7th 2009
Love Hope Strength Foundation pulled off yet another amazing day on June 27th. Rhonda Rocks was led by co-founder Mike Peters and was joined by an entourage of fans and people affected by cancer as they hiked from Aberdare to Darren Y Bwllfa.

Proceeds from the Rhondda Rocks event went directly to the Tenovus cancer charity innovative Mobile Cancer Support Unit.

Mike kicked off the hike with a couple of songs on acoustic guitar outside the mobile unit, before performing a few more hits at the peak of Rhondda and ending the night with a fundraising gig at Coliseum Theatre, Aberdare.

Rhondda Rocks had the support of BBC Wales and producer Darren Broome. Darren helped with media coverage of the event and also used his influence by inviting some of the more well known members of Wales music community to take part in proceedings. Also on the walk was ex-Stereophonics drummer Stuart Cable who supported Peters with his new band Killing For Company. Joining them as well were Cowbridge favorites The Automatic and Swansea five-piece Viva Machine.
