Rock the Alps, September, 2023 – 37 determined people

Rock the Alps, September, 2023

37 determined people. 5 days of:

ROCKING – in hostels across the Swiss and French Alps.

ROLLING – across large boulders (and then into an icy lake for some!).

WALKING – over 50km of steep ascents and tricky descents. On snow, over streams and by picturesque waterfalls, all with the most spectacular views.

TALKING – it started with the trekkers meeting healthcare experts at the Union for International Cancer Control and then the group went on to share stories, laugh and support each other as fears were conquered and expectations were surpassed.

This Love Hope Strength challenge will help improve the treatment, care and support that children with a cancer diagnosis in Tanzania receive. This trek also served as an opportunity for those who trekked to reflect on their own experience of living with cancer, remember loved ones, and celebrate the huge advancements that have taken place in the field of cancer in recent years. Rock the Alps was especially significant because this time last year Love Hope Strength co-founder Mike Peters was seriously unwell in hospital; it was incredibly moving when the ‘hills were alive with the sound of his music’ during the trek.

Donate now to Mike’s £100,000 fundraiser, or organise your own challenge wherever you are in the world to help make the world of difference to children who desperately need our collective support. Your small steps can help make a big step change for young people with a cancer diagnosis: www.justgiving.com/page/mike-peters-is-back

Thank you again to everyone who participated in Rock the Alps, and to all those who made this special adventure happen. Thank you too to all those who have already supported Mike and the trekkers’ fundraising, and for all the clinicians and support staff in the NHS who have helped Mike get back on his feet after relapsing last year. You all rock!
